A constant and on going battle of broadband speeds is taking place. Customers are continually getting much slower broadband than advertisers. Many broadband customers are only receiving a third of the speed that they paid for. Watchdog and media regulators Ofcom want a code of practice to be set up so consumers are more in the know of what service they are receiving. It needs to start with advertisers explaining why speeds can vary. Broadband providers then must provide better information for customers, explaining about speeds before sales and then after installation. A code has been set up for the broadband providers so customers can be more informed on what they are purchasing and to give them the flexibility to move to different packages to suit their needs and the speeds they are getting.
