Legally binding targets to reduce carbon emissions
Britain will be the first country to be introduced

Britain will be the first country to introduce a legal framework to cut carbon emissions. This will be put into place to enforce reductions of carbon emissions by 26% by 2020 and 60% by 2050. The frame work will also hopefully provide confidence for businesses who will need to make investments for the technology needed for a lower carbon economy. This will also provide incentives for households to minimise waste in the home and encouraging more recycling.

The targets set to reduce the carbon emissions by up to 80% are high and ambitious but this new framework will hopefully help manage the change and make it achievable. It is a drastic action that needed to be taken, if world temperatures rise by any more than two degrees there could have catastrophic consequences.

There will also be an energy bill introduced, which will secure the supply of energy for Britain. This will hopefully boost renewable energy sources in the UK. This will include increased investment in off shore gas supply projects and carbon capture and storage.
