| The AA has the largest fleet of all the UK breakdown companies with double the number of patrols of its closest rival. The company also offers a wide range of complementary products including European breakdown cover, extended night patrols, car insurance, travel insurance, home insurance and a Driving School.
The AA is the largest breakdown operator in the UK with over 4,000 breakdown vehicles in their fleet. Customer service is excellent, with 98% of members reporting that they would recommend the service to a friend.
The AA has been providing a trusted service to its members since 1905. Since this time the AA has expanded from its original offerings to include breakdown cover and insurance.
The AA's award-winning breakdown service can be broken down into 4 levels, ranging from a 'Roadside' basic level of cover up to a premium 'Relay Plus' package including full overnight hotel accommodation or car hire if a prompt roadside repair is not possible. An intermediate option offers transport to any mainland UK destination if a prompt repair is not possible. We believe that this range of options provides something to suit any car owner.

Review by Martin - 26 January 2008 I have been a member for number of years and always found the service to be of a hih standard. I have had my car dropped off at a garage and I have been forwarded on to my home and this was with their basic roadside package. I also broke down at a friends house late at night and rather than ring the AA I went home and rang in the morning - the patrol was at my car before I was within 20 minutes and had it fixed within30 miuntes and was very helpful. I have used the service for a puncture on the way to playing football - The patrol changed the tyre for me and I asked him to look at the engine as it was making some noises. he spent over an hour there tightening and tuning the engine and making sure everything was spot on! All this when i called for a tyre and I am sure it saved me going to the garage.

Review by Glenn Radford - 1 October 2007 I have only recently joined the AA so cannot comment on the level of service. I can however, comment on the value package I was offered. I got roadside and relay (in any vehicle) for me and my partner for a whole year for £93:00 a small price to pay for peace of mind. |
Review by Lisa - 4 September 2007 I recently took out european breakdown cover with the AA, when we got to France we developed a problem with the car. I dialled the number given when taking out the policy which went through to an answering machine which told me to dial 112 -which gets you through to the french police. The police did not understand a word I was saying, luckily after walking for five miles we came across a french man who was fishing who offered us help to get the car back mobile. I called the AA today on my return to the UK, to be basically be called a liar, as they do not believe that a) I got through to an answering machine and b) that the police did not understand what i was telling them. I was spoken to by the customer services like i was an idiot and have been so far refused any sort of refund,as they said I was still covered, to which I argued how could I be covered if I could not get through to someone to ask for help! |
Review by leah @ the aa - 29 August 2007 in reply to nigel carpenter... your comment about no service between 2am and 6am being disgusting? you couldnt be forther from the truth. i work for the aa and i know for a fact that they operate 24hrs a day. i may know this due to working there between the hours of 20:00pm and 06:30 am. i rate the aa 5/5, they are excellent and thats coming from someone on the inside that sees everything!!! |
Review by Nigel Carpenter - 22 August 2007 I broke down on the M1 just 5 miles from the garage I use to service my car.
It took 2 recovery vehicles and 5 hours to travel the 5 miles. The first Independent contractor working on Behalf of the AA took me first 3 miles, some 2 hours later the second taking me the remaining 2 miles. No Actual AA patrol man attended.
Also I have just found out that the AA offer no cover between 2am and 6am, Disgusting.

Review by Mark Dawson - 22 March 2007 The AA have a policy of not refunding any money. So if you don;t need the policy or want to reduce it..You can't. I have been with the AA for six years and they won't give me back a meesly £25 to reduce my cover as I now have a company car. Terrible policy. |
Review by Nick - 25 October 2006 The AA has delivered me safely home to a nice warm bed instead of spending a night in the car on the motorway! Can't vouch for "4th emergency service" - felt like 1st on several occasions ;-) |
Review by Jeremy Easterby - 24 October 2006 I joined the AA a short while ago and they have been very helpful since. I waited 25 minutes to get my car started and they did so very easily.
Very pleased. |
